Chelsea make Pulisic bid

Chelsea have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals by launching the first official bid for Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic.

The Evening Standard say the Blues have offered below Dortmund’s £70m asking price.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool were said to be monitoring his situation after talks over signing a new contract with the German giants came to a standstill.

The Standard add that Pulisic’s first choice would be a switch to Liverpool as he is keen to reunite with ex-Dortmund chief Jurgen Klopp.

Chelsea move encouraged

Alan Shearer has urged Ruben Loftus-Cheek to quit Chelsea unless he is guaranteed a more important role in the team.

"Ruben will have a big decision to make at the end of the season,” Shearer told The Sun. “He scored against Fulham – just like he did the last time he played in the Premier League against Burnley back in October.

"But despite doing very well every time he does play, he is just not getting enough game time. Loftus-Cheek had a good time on loan at Crystal Palace last season and then went to the World Cup with England.

"I understood his decision to come back and give it a go at Chelsea because a new manager had taken over. But he will have to wait and see if he plays more between now and the end of the season, otherwise, he will really have to consider his future in the summer.”

Woodward sent Man Utd transfer message

Man Utd executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward cannot let Jose Mourinho spend big in January, Chris Sutton claims.

"With the transfer window opening in less than a month’s time, Manchester United face a huge decision,” Sutton wrote in his Daily Mail column.

"Do they back Jose Mourinho with the funds to turn their season around? Given Mourinho’s track record at Old Trafford, I cannot see how Ed Woodward can trust him.

"Having already spent close to £300million, there is no guarantee Mourinho can get them out of this malaise with another spree.”

Sarri to axe Kante?

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri will try to phase out N’Golo Kante, Jermaine Jenas claims.

"The longer Maurizio Sarri is at Chelsea, something tells me that at some point he will try to phase out N’Golo Kante,” Jenas wrote in his Daily Mail column.

"That sounds crazy. It is crazy. It makes no sense to get rid of the best central midfielder on the planet. But the fact is Sarri just does not see Kante in his system.

"He is making Kante play in a different way to what made him the best in the world.”

Rashford told to leave Man Utd

Marcus Rashford must quit Manchester United because Jose Mourinho is killing him, BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks claims.

"This really can't go on. Jose Mourinho is killing Marcus Rashford,” Crooks wrote in his BBC Sport column.

"Mourinho may have won trophies but he destroys players in the process. He is doing to Rashford what he did to Arjen Robben at Chelsea.

Chelsea agreement

Cesar Azpilicueta has agreed a new contract with Chelsea, the Daily Telegraph claim.

They say the Spaniard, who still has 18 months left on his current deal, has committed until at least 2022.

Azpilicueta is set to earn around £150,000-a-week when his new deal is confirmed.

The Blues will now turn their attention to Eden Hazard, who could leave Stamford Bridge next summer.

Mourinho talks Man Utd’s Koulibaly bid

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho has refused to deny making a bid for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

When quizzed about whether the rumours of a £91m bid are true, Mourinho replied: “I cannot answer to your question.

"If is true, if is not true, I cannot answer to your question, maybe your question is the first one about the market and maybe the next press conference I have two more questions, and maybe the next press conference I have three more.

"The only thing I can tell you is Koulibaly is a Napoli player. And I don’t speak about players from other clubs.”

"Rashford must get out of United now before what little confidence he has left is destroyed.”

Ozil update

Mesut Ozil is considering his options at Arsenal, and could be heading to Italy.

That’s according to the Sun on Sunday who say Ozil is frustrated with his game-time in recent weeks.

The German was absent for Arsenal’s north London derby win and Unai Emery has recently admitted he doesn’t have the physicality for certain games.

The Sun report Inter Milan are considering a move in the summer.
