Jordan Pickford trolled after Liverpool grab late winner

Liverpool vs Everton

Liverpool hosted Everton on Sunday in the first Merseyside derby of the season.

After Man City beat Bournemouth 3-1 on Saturday Liverpool needed a win to ensure they remained on the tails of the league leaders.

As for Everton, they are enjoying a great start to the season under Marco Silva and began the day in 6th place.

The Toffees would not have moved up to 5th with a win but it would have put some distance between them and 7th place Manchester United.

Unlike the North London derby earlier in the day, Liverpool-Everton took a lot longer to get going.

Liverpool’s last minute winner

Neither side had the best first-half. However, the second half saw Everton step up their game.

Marco Silva’s men looked very likely to come away with a much-deserved point as we headed into the 96th minute of the game.

However, Virgil van Dijk would smash his shot straight up in the Everton penalty area.

It would land awkwardly for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who tried to push it over the crossbar when he probably should have just left it.

As a result, the ball would bounce back down and allow Liverpool sub, Divock Origi to score a last-gasp winner.

Twitter reacts to Pickford

Pickford would apologise for the mistake to the Everton fans at the game.

However, that has not stopped the England keeper being trolled on Twitter.
