League Two leaders Edinburgh City hold off Queen’s Park

Edinburgh City maintained their two-point lead at the top of the Ladbrokes League Two table thanks to a 2-0 home victory over 10-man Queen’s Park.

Two goals in three first-half minutes proved enough for the Citizens as Blair Henderson and Scott Shepherd fired Edinburgh into a comfortable half-time lead.

They were unable to increase their advantage despite Dominic McLaren receiving his marching orders for two yellow cards in the 73rd minute.

Peterhead clung onto Edinburgh City’s coat-tails with a late 2-1 victory against Annan.

Derek Lyle scored his eighth goal of the season after just 80 seconds to put Peterhead into an early lead at Balmoor.

Tony Wallace levelled for Annan from the penalty spot in the 80th minute when Jason Brown fouled Max Wright, but the Blue Toon sealed all three points with Russell McLaren’s curled effort six minutes from time.

Basement club Albion Rovers picked up their first point in seven matches following a 1-1 draw with Cowdenbeath.

Rovers moved in front courtesy of Jamie Gallagher’s 10th-minute penalty but the visitors levelled with a spot-kick of their own 11 minutes later, with Josh Skelly converting.

The hosts were given a lifeline to claim just their second league win of the season when Robbie Buchanan was shown a straight red card for serious foul play with eight minutes remaining but Cowdenbeath held on.

Stirling extended their unbeaten run to four matches with an emphatic 5-2 comeback win at home to 10-man Elgin.

Kerr Hay and Shane Sutherland put Elgin into a 2-0 advantage after 19 minutes but Stirling hit back through Darren Smith, Neil McLaughlin and Dylan Mackin to lead 3-2 at the break.

Jordan Lowdon was shown a red card for serious foul play just before the hour-mark and the hosts took full advantage, with Smith grabbing his second and Dominic Docherty adding gloss to the scoreline.

Berwick threw away a 3-0 half-time lead as Clyde stormed back to share a six-goal thriller at the Broadwood Stadium.

A trialist grabbed the first two goals for Berwick before Paul Willis found the net with a free-kick on the stroke of half-time.

Former Scotland international David Goodwillie pulled one back for Clyde before Dylan Cogill and John Rankin drew the home side level to earn an unlikely point.
