Darragh Lenihan is a doubt as Blackburn look to avoid a third successive Sky Bet Championship defeat when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Ewood Park.

The defender missed the midweek loss at Wigan because of a badly bruised hip and is touch and go to return at the weekend to bolster a backline that shipped four at Preston and three against the Latics.

Boss Tony Mowbray does not expect to make wholesale changes in a bid to shake things up but admitted there are a “few knocks and niggles” in his squad.

However, winger Elliott Bennett should return after serving a one-match suspension at the DW Stadium for collecting his fifth booking of the season at Preston.

Sheffield Wednesday ended a six-match winless streak by edging out lowly Bolton on Tuesday, when Steven Fletcher was substituted in the first half after feeling “dizzy”.

Fletcher, who continues to manage the knee issue which sidelined him last season, sat out the weekend defeat to Derby but it was another complaint that ended his night early against the Trotters.

Manager Jos Luhukay will assess the Scotland striker before Saturday but will definitely be without suspended defender Ash Baker, who picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Bolton.

Sam Winnall (hamstring), Kieran Lee (knee) and Gary Hooper (groin) remain on the sidelines.
