Liverpool lost 2-1 to PSG in the Champions League with Neymar netting

Neymar netted the winner for the French champions as Liverpool suffered a loss.

Juan Bernat gave PSG the lead in the 13th minute before the Brazil international made it 2-0.

James Milner gave Liverpool hope in first half injury time when he converted a penalty after Sadio Mane was fouled.

But Klopp made it clear that he was’t happy with the antics of PSG and the fact Marco Verratti wasn’t sent off for a high challenge on Joe Gomez.

On the antics of the opposition, he said: “There was a little hurdle with the 500,000 interruptions in the second half, and the referee did nothing.

"In England we are high up in the fair-play table, but tonight we looked like butchers.

"I saw the Verratti foul, and wow. How many yellows were there? There were cards for holding, the same as Verratti got.”

He added: “There were moments when we had control, and the intensity of the first half they (PSG) could not keep up so we tried everything. With one or two different decisions we would have been better off.”

Klopp went on to call on Anfield for big support in Liverpool’s final Champions League group stage match against Napoli on December 11.

"We have to take 2-1 because a lot of teams lose in Paris, but it is a bit rubbish and we have to use Anfield one more time. We are calling Anfield and we will see what happens,” he exclaimed.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson also gave his thoughts on the defeat to PSG.

He said: “We are disappointed because we think we are good enough to come here and win.

“It wasn't our night in the end but we had the boost at half time and we kept going. Now we have just got to keep it in our own hands by winning back at Anfield.”

Henderson felt the referee was right to award the Reds a penalty on the stroke of half-time which James Milner converted.

He explained: “It looked clear to me. I wasn't sure the referee would have given it but the linesman did in the end.

"We didn't start particularly well, and they did, so we got punished. The reaction was good and we caused them problems right until the end, but it wasn't meant to be.”

PSG were perhaps lucky to not be down to 10 men in the first half after a high tackle from Marco Verratti on Joe Gomez.

But Henderson refused to blame the referee for the decision or the resulting defeat.

He said: “It looked quite high but I'm not really sure. In the moment it is fast and that is football.

"I’m sure we made a few as well. We now have another big game at Anfield and we can get through that and into the next round.”

The result means Liverpool must beat Napoli 1-0 or by two clear goals at Anfield to progress to the Champions League last 16.
