McCann thinks Kane is able as he proves Doncaster naysayers wrong

Grant McCann lavished praise on goalscorer Herbie Kane as Doncaster beat Blackpool at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Kane drilled in a 35-yard strike in first-half stoppage time to send Rovers on their way, with John Marquis wrapping up the win with a second 12 minutes from time.
On-loan Liverpool midfielder Kane has impressed greatly during his time with Doncaster and his goal was a fifth in five matches.
“It’s a great strike,” McCann said.
“It was the reaction he was really good at. He won the ball back first, played a one-two, drifted inside and it was a great strike.
“He’s found his shooting boots recently. It’s five in five and he could have had another when he hit the bar with his free kick.
“We’re delighted with him.
“He’s top class, the boy. I knew that when he brought him to the football club.
“A lot of people were wondering why we were bringing a Liverpool Under 21 player to the club but I think we’ve seen why.”
McCann was also delighted with the goal scored by Marquis, who moved onto 12 for the season.
“I was pleased for John,” he said.
“The work he puts in for the team I think sometimes goes unnoticed.
“He sets the tone for us with his aggressive play and pressing.
“He needed that and I was delighted for him.
“That will give him a lot more confidence.”
Blackpool manager Terry McPhillips conceded his side were beaten by the better team as they saw a five game winning run ended by Doncaster.
Though they missed good chances to take the lead in a competitive first half, the Seasiders struggled to threaten after the break and ensured a rather comfortable victory for their hosts.
“We weren’t at our best,” he said.
“We got beat by the better team – a good club by the way with good players, a good system they play.
“I thought we had the better chances before they scored with Nathan Delfouneso and Joe Bunney both having really good chances.
“I thought it was working in the first half with the way we set up to stop them threatening our goal.
“It was just until just before half time when we didn’t defend very well on the half way line and let the lad have a free shot.
“It was a hell of a strike, two good strikes by them.
“I think Armand Gnanduillet had one shot that went past the post in the second half and that was the disappointing thing, that we didn’t rally.
“We didn’t do as well as have have done but we have to dust ourselves down as a team and go again.”
