Jerry Yates leaves it late for Carlisle

Notts County remain in the relegation zone after Jerry Yates’ late header rescued a point for Carlisle in a 1-1 draw.
It looked like the Magpies were on course for a valuable win when Elliott Hewitt poked home in the 61st minute after Noor Husin’s effort was saved.
But they were unable to hold on as Rotherham loanee Yates levelled with six minutes to play.
The Cumbrians enjoyed the best of the first-half chances with Jamie Devitt grazing the crossbar with a 30-yard free-kick.
Kristian Dennis spurned a great chance to put the Magpies ahead when he badly miscued on the edge of the box on the half hour.
The home side came even closer to breaking the deadlock shortly after the restart when goalkeeper Adam Collin made two smart saves in quick succession to keep out Nathan Thomas and Jamie Turley.
The Magpies got their reward just after the hour mark when Hewitt reacted quickest to score from a corner.
But Yates earned a share of the spoils for the visitors when he converted Liam McCarron’s teasing cross.
