Rory Gaffney’s brace helped promotion-chasing Salford get the better of top-of-the-table rivals Harrogate in a 3-2 Vanarama National League win on Tuesday.
Jack Muldoon opened the scoring for Harrogate when he headed in from a cross in the ninth minute.
But hosts Salford were quickly back on terms thanks to Danny Whitehead, who equalised with a low drive from 20-yards two minutes later.
Harrogate took the lead again in the 25th minute when Liam Kitching finished off Kelvin Langmead’s header, but it was all square at the break thanks to Gaffney’s 44th minute leveller.
Salford took the lead for the first time in the match in the 57th minute when Gaffney fired in a free-kick in what proved to be the decisive goal.
