Marcus Maddison magic gives Peterborough the points

A moment of Marcus Maddison magic earned Peterborough a 1-0 home win against AFC Wimbledon.
The winger spectacularly ended an eight-month goal drought with a stunning breakthrough on the hour mark at the ABAX Stadium, stepping away from two challenges before steering a 25-yard strike past Dons goalkeeper Joe McDonnell.
Maddison’s wonder-strike will no doubt have brought a smile to the face of suspended Posh manager Steve Evans, who watched on from the stands.
His strike certainly eased the frustration for the home side who had seen Matt Godden spurn a series of chances either side of half-time.
Godden was twice denied by McDonnell before firing over following a fine Colin Daniel cross.
Posh were reliant on a brilliant defensive clearance from Ryan Tafazolli to preserve their advantage as he denied Joe Piggott after the Wimbledon forward had robbed Rhys Bennett and danced round keeper Aaron Chapman.
But the lowly visitors could not find a reply and they almost gifted Posh a second goal when Will Nightingale headed a Maddison cross against his own post.
