PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has given an update on the fitness of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League showdown with Liverpool.

The duo were both injured while on international duty with their countries last week.

Neymar limped off inside ten minutes of Brazil’s friendly with Cameroon in Milton Keynes.

The Brazilian picked up a groin problem which has continued to be closely monitored.

Mbappe hurt his shoulder while playing for France in the friendly win over Uruguay.

PSG overcame Toulouse 1-0 in Ligue 1 on Saturday to maintain their superb 100% record in the league this season.

Tuchel opted not to risk the injured pair in hope they will be fit for Wednesday’s must-win clash with Liverpool.

After the match, the German boss gave an update on the pair’s fitness.

"I am more optimistic than [on Friday] about Neymar and Kylian," Tuchel said.

"They will be able to train on Monday."

Dani Alves could also return in time for the match. The full-back has been sidelined with a knee injury.

"In theory [Alves] would not play on Wednesday as he has just returned, but if you asked him he would tell you 'Yes'," Tuchel added.

"He has returned to the team and he could play a match of that level against Liverpool.”

Liverpool will qualify for the knockout stages with a win in Paris with one match left of the group stages.

Defeat will mean they will need to beat Napoli by two goals on the final match day at Anfield.

The Reds won in dramatic fashion when the side’s met on Merseyside.

Roberto Firmino fired a stoppage-time winner and those points have taken the pressure slightly off Jurgen Klopp’s side in the French capital after a surprise defeat at Red Star Belgrade.
