Autopsy reveals Daniel Correa died as a result of a partial beheading

Sao Paulo footballer Daniel Correa was found dead on October 27 nearly decapitated with his genitals cut off, and it has been confirmed that the partial beheading caused his death.

It remains unclear, however, if he was still alive when mutilated.

"The partial beheading was the cause of death, but it's not possible to know which injury happened first and if he was alive when he was mutilated," Paulino Pastre, the director of the Legal Medical Institute, stated.

"The back injuries, chest injuries and thigh injuries suggest that two people were probably going up against the player."

Edison Brittes, the man accused of the crime, has claimed that he killed Correa on his own.

Over the course of police investigations, 21 people have been questioned about the incident.
