Gooch earns 10-man Sunderland a point at Walsall

Ten-man Sunderland came from two goals down to extend their unbeaten run to 13 games with a 2-2 draw at Walsall – despite Max Power’s third red card of the season.
Power was sent off for a reckless challenge on Liam Kinsella after 22 minutes but Aiden McGeady and Lynden Gooch rescued a point after Josh Gordon and Josh Ginnelly had put Walsall in control.
Walsall should have led before the interval but Russell Martin sent a free header wide and George Dobson hit the post after rounding Black Cats keeper Jon McLaughlin.
The Saddlers led a minute into the second half as Nicky Devlin’s near-post cross was steered home by Gordon from six yards.
Ginnelly doubled the advantage on 52 minutes, beating two Sunderland defenders before lashing a stunning strike into the top corner.
Sunderland gave themselves hope in the 61st minute as McGeady met Gooch’s cross with a fine finish from 15 yards.
And the comeback was completed a minute from time as Gooch swivelled in the box and fired into the bottom corner.
