The complications behind James' potential return to Real Madrid

Although James Rodriguez would welcome a potential return to Real Madrid, there are certain factors that would make Los Blancos withdraw from such a move.

The Colombian star has struggled this season at Bayern Munich under Niko Kovac and it was as soon as last summer that Julen Lopetegui expressed to the player his wish to have him back at the end of the ongoing campaign.

Although Lopetegui has been dismissed, the club still consider bringing him back to the Spanish capital after his two year loan comes to an end.

There are several reasons, however, why Los Blancos are hesitant to summon him back, as there are players such as Isco and Marco Asensio that currently feature in the same position.

Moreover, the club are eager to bring in a marquee signing of the calibre of Eden Hazard or Neymar and following such a move, the space up front will be extremely tight.

Finally, LaLiga Santander only allow three non-European players to be part of the squad and with Vinicius Junior already in it, Exequiel Palacios arriving in January and Rodrygo in June, the available spot will be covered.

The player's contract ends in 2021 and Florentino Perez has yet to take a decision on whether he will keep him or let him go to earn extra money from a potential multi-million transfer.
