Gervinho explains why he will 'never forget' training alongside Mo Salah

Mo Salah has been turning heads ever since making the move from Roma to Liverpool in 2017.

It has been revealed that Salah wasn't even Jurgen Klopp's first choice; the German manager only turned to him after failing in a deal for Julian Brandt.

But, Salah's performances have ensured that was actually a massive slice of luck for Liverpool.

The Egyptian winger had a quite incredible season in his first campaign in Merseyside.

He scored 44 times in 52 games as he broke record after record.

The 26-year-old hasn't been as impressive this season, with eight goals in 17 games to his name, but that's still a decent return.

Salah's career hasn't been always been a success story, however.

His time at Chelsea was nothing short of a disaster. He played just 19 times for Chelsea before being sent out on loan to Fiorentina.

It was only after joining Roma that Salah became a world class player.

Former Arsenal player, Gervinho, was one of Salah's teammates in Rome, and the Ivorian winger has given an insight as to why Salah has emerged into one of the world's best players.

He has revealed that he would never forget training with him and compared him to a madman.

"Salah is a tough guy," Gervinho told the Guardian.  "Always calm and strong, with the mentality of a hard worker.

"I'll never forget his training sessions: very high rhythm, pushed like a madman, you watched him in amazement.

"He had a sort of positive effect - you saw Salah and wanted to work harder. Talent and sacrifice."

It sounds like Salah has both the mindset and the ability of a champion.

The Egyptian forward recently became the fastest player to score 50 goals for Liverpool but he has maintained that he has to carry on finding the back of the net.

"I'm glad about that. I'm always very happy and proud to break records, especially records at a club like Liverpool," Salah explained to BBC Sport, per Liverpoolfc.com.

"Being the fastest player to score 50 goals for the club is something great. But I need to carry on and score more goals - I'm looking forward to 100!"
