CJ Hamilton strike sinks Port Vale

CJ Hamilton’s first-half strike sealed back-to-back League Two wins for Mansfield for the first time all season as they beat Port Vale 1-0.
The visitors also ended the game with 10 men when Manny Oyeleke was shown a second yellow card on 64 minutes.
A poor first half exploded into life on 41 minutes with a bolt from the blue by Hamilton.
He ran into the box on the right from Hayden White’s pass and sent a powerful shot flashing across Scott Brown into the far corner.
Hamilton had come the closest to a goal on 16 minutes from a similar position when his shot came back off post, a minute after Jacob Mellis had fired into the sidenetting from 18 yards.
Tyler Walker almost made it 2-0 just after half-time, but Brown blocked his close range backheel from Craig Davies’ low cross.
Once Oyeleke had been dismissed, Stags should have had a second on 82 when keeper Brown slipped and gifted the ball to Danny Rose, but he managed to block Rose’s finish and then saw Tyler Walker lift his follow-up over.
