Loanee Alex Palmer to pull on gloves for Latics

West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer will play for Oldham in Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Cambridge after signing on a seven-day emergency loan.
Daniel Iversen’s Denmark Under-21s call-up and Zeus de la Paz’s hamstring injury left the Latics without a senior goalkeeper, necessitating Palmer’s short-term switch.
Midfielder Jose Baxter is out for six to eight weeks with ankle ligament damage sustained in last Monday’s FA Cup first-round win at Hampton and Richmond.
Striker Sam Surridge should be in contention, after spending a month out with a hamstring injury.
Cambridge boss Joe Dunne is expected to make changes in a bid to avoid the slow start which saw his side exit the FA Cup at Guiseley.
David Amoo, Ade Azeez and Paul Lewis came off the substitutes’ bench in the second-half fightback, which fell short as United exited the FA Cup.
Azeez scored twice in Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy win over Colchester and could come into the starting line-up after returning from concussion against Guiseley.
Midfielder Reggie Lambe is on international duty with Bermuda and unavailable, while forward Barry Corr is a long-term absentee with an ankle injury.
