Arsenal 'seriously monitoring' Juventus defender Daniele Rugani

As per a report from the Express, Arsenal are once again keeping a close eye on Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

Rugani's struggles

Rugani, a 24-year-old central defender, has long been regarded as one of the most gifted young stoppers in Europe.

He has already established himself as a regular in Italy's international setup, and showcased his undeniable talents on countless occasions in Serie A.

However, despite impressing just about every time he takes to the pitch, Rugani has often found game-time hard to come by at the Juventus Stadium, with the presence of the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Medhi Benatia at the club having made life difficult for the former Empoli youngster.

Nevertheless, though, Rugani managed to rack up 22 Serie A starts last season.

Arsenal interest

However, Leonardo Bonucci's return to Turin this summer has once again made the route to first-team football a difficult one to navigate for the Azzurri star.

To this point in the campaign, Rugani has been afforded just 2 Serie A starts.

As such, the 24-year-old's future at the Allianz Stadium has once again been called into question of late.

The talented stopper was heavily-linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer, but it is another Premier League club who have been named as long-standing admirers of Rugani in the past, who are reportedly ready to reignite their chase of the Juventus man.

The club in question are Arsenal, with the Express claiming that the Gunners are 'seriously monitoring the Juventus star's availability'.

Despite the summer signing of Sokratis and the impressive recent form being enjoyed by Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding, Unai Emery is said to be keen on further additions to the centre of his defence.

The Express add, though, that Chelsea remain the front-runners in the race for Rugani.
