CRISTIANO RONALDO believes Manchester United’s defeat over Juventus may have come at the best possible time.
United came from behind to beat the Old Lady in the Champions League in midweek thanks to a Juan Mata free-kick and Alex Sandro own goal.
Those came in the final five minutes after Ronaldo had put Juventus ahead against his former club in Turin.
It was the first time Ronaldo had tasted defeat with the Serie A giants after joining the club from Real Madrid during the summer.
The Portuguese forward moved to Italy after spending nine years at the Bernabeu, helping Los Blancos to four Champions League titles including three in a row.
Juventus will look to bounce back from defeat against Manchester United when they travel to AC Milan on Sunday.
And Ronaldo believes the loss on Wednesday may help Max Allegri’s side in the long run.
"It's never nice to lose, but maybe this defeat comes at the best possible time," Ronaldo said.
"We have a great team, we're top of the group and I'm sure we'll go through as group winners."
Juventus sit two points ahead of United in Group H with two games remaining.
Regardless, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho celebrated the win in Italy by gesturing to the crowd by putting his hand against his ear.
And while that reaction upset many, Red Devils legend Gary Neville enjoyed what he saw from the former Chelsea boss.
“I thought Jose after the game was… That’s why everyone loves him,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“Seeing him cup the hand to the fans at the end of the game… Some people may not like it - that’s what I love about him, that’s what I love about football.
“I think there should be reaction and passion at the end of the match, I even liked his reaction at the end of the game against Newcastle the other week [where Mourinho spoke angrily towards a TV camera].
“To me, Jose Mourinho’s best qualities always were that he was impossible when he was losing, but he was impossible when he was winning - it was enthralling to watch.”
