Nou Camp bosses are reportedly on the hunt for a long-term replacement for Suarez, who turns 32 in January.

The Spanish press have linked Liverpool ace Firmino with a potential switch to Barcelona.

Despite struggling to hit the back of the net this term, Barcelona chiefs reportedly believe the Brazilian is the perfect fit for their style.

And El Gol Digital claim Suarez has given his blessing to Firmino being his successor in attack.

Suarez admitted last week that he is not surprised by reports linking Barcelona with moves for potential replacements.

"It's normal," he told Uruguayan outlet Sport 890.

"First of all, at my age and with the career I have had, I have to be above any criticism. Now, when they say Barcelona need a new No. 9, there's nothing strange about it.

"Obviously they have to bring players in. I am 31 and Barca have to think, as a club, about the future.

"They're always going to need strikers, left-backs or whatever position it may be."

Firmino has only scored one goal in the previous nine games, and has been benched for this evening's Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade.

Ahead of the fixture, Jurgen Klopp was asked if he had any concerns over the 27-year-old's form in front of goal.

"No," the Liverpool boss replied. "He's hard-working, sometimes better, sometimes a bit less, but good. That's how it is. It will be all fine for sure.

"If he didn't score in the last few games then… one in nine? All competitions? Didn't he score against Red Star? That was the one goal he scored? Okay, good.

"I am not concerned. Things like this happen. He is a very important player for us. I was not really happy with our defending first half in London and he was involved in that. That's what I'm talking about.

"In the end everything will be fine. We know about these situations. Sometimes it is clicking easier than in other moments, that's all. There are no concerns."

Daniel Sturridge has taken Firmino's place in the team for the game in Serbia but they trail 2-0 at the half-time break.

Barcelona, meanwhile, take on Inter Milan at the San Siro at 8pm GMT.
