Plymouth will again have to do without defender Ryan Edwards for the Sky Bet League One visit of Sunderland.
Centre-back Edwards has been sidelined by a chest infection, and is still not back in full training.
Defender Scott Wootton has suffered a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury which has kept him out since the end of September.
Full-backs Joe Riley (knee) and Gary Sawyer (foot) continue their recovery, along with striker Ryan Taylor (ankle).
Sunderland, who head into the weekend in third place, will welcome back defender Glenn Loovens into the squad.
The Dutchman has been out since the end of September because of a hamstring problem.
Forward Duncan Watmore has been stepping up his recovery from a long-term knee injury with full training sessions as he looks to be available by the end of the year.
Summer signing Charlie Wyke is also closing in on a return following his own knee problem.
