ARSENE WENGER could be set to link up again with Ivan Gazidis who takes over as AC Milan chief executive this week.

Arsene Wenger has been out of the game since leaving Arsenal in the summer when he worked closely with Gazidis who has left the Emirates for Milan.

And one of Gazidis’ first jobs for the club could be looking for a new head coach with Rino Gattuso fighting to save his job after a poor start to the season.

The former Italian international is believed to be two games away from the sack and Wenger’s relationship with Gazidis puts him on the list of potential replacements.

Together they won three trophies and Wenger recently said that he was looking to return to management by the start of the New Year.

Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande are also known to have him on their wanted list as well.

Wenger has already spent time in Asia as a manager with Japanese side Nagoya Grampus Eight.

There had been reports that Monaco were keen on bringing Wenger back to the Stade Louis II.

Thierry Henry was instead appointed boss after turning down Aston Villa.

The French boss thrashed Milan in last season’s Europa League Round of 16.

Goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey saw the Gunners win 2-0 at the San Siro.

Danny Welbeck then fired a brace in the return leg as Arsenal won 3-1 (5-1 on aggregate).

Milan currently sit 12th in the Serie A table, six points off the Champions League places.

Defeat in last weekend’s Milan derby cranked up the pressure on Gattuso.

Wenger revealed he is keen to return to management and believes he will be in a job by January after receiving a number of offers.

“I believe that (I will) start again on January 1,” he said. “I don't know where yet. I feel rested and am ready to work again,” the 69-year-old said.

“From my 22 years at Arsenal, I have big experience on different levels. There are enquiries from all over the world.

“There are associations, national teams, it could be also in Japan.”
