The United boss, whose future has been clouded in uncertainty this season, is under contract at Old Trafford until 2020.

But as he prepared to lock horns with Italian giants Juventus in Tuesday's Champions League clash, Mourinho maintained he’s in it for the long haul.

He said: “My future is here. I have a contract and I am happy to stay here after the very last day of my contract and longer than that. All I am thinking about at the moment is Manchester United.”

Mourinho believes there are signs that United are finally beginning to click into gear.

After a stunning second-half comeback to beat Newcastle 3-2 before the international break, United served notice of a return to form in their 2-2 draw against Chelsea on Saturday.

Mourinho said: “United’s form was shown in the past two matches. Everyone was happy with the performance against Chelsea, but nobody happy with the result. What I’ve told players is to get the best out of the feelings.

"But the way we can play, and the way we want to play was shown in the last two matches, so we will try to play that way again.”

Mourinho admits keeping Italian champions Juventus quiet tonight will be a different task altogether and said: “Juventus have a lot to offer and an extra year with the same coach and structure.

"They have won seven titles on the trot and a really special player (Cristiano Ronaldo) who makes a real difference. They are more than a contender for the Champions League.”

Asked where Ronaldo ranks among all the stellar players he has worked with, Mourinho added said: “I thought Cristiano is in a level where he doesn’t need these questions and these answers.

"He is one of the best players of all time and nobody can tell different than that. He’s one of the best players of all time. It’s as simple as that.”

Meanwhile, Mourinho has escaped punishment but has been “reminded of his responsibilities” by the FA for his part in the touchline fracas at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea No.2 coach Marco Ianni was yesterday charged with improper conduct for taunting Mourinho in front of his team’s bench when celebrating Ross Barkley’s 96th-minute equaliser.

Ianni, who sparked the scuffle, has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to his charge.

Mourinho had to held back by stewards and staff after reacting angrily to Ianni but believes that the young Blues coach had been punished enough already.

He added: “He has apologised to me and he deserves a second chance - he doesn’t deserve to be sacked.

"He went through a situation where he recognises he was wrong. Now I hope everybody does the same as I did and do not disturb the career of a great guy. Probably someone with great potential.”
