AC Milan could send Tiemoue Bakayoko back to Chelsea early

While both Chelsea and Tiemoue Bakayoko would have hoped a year at the San Siro would have aided his progress, it appears his time at AC Milan could already be coming to an abrupt end.

After struggling to adjust to life at Stamford Bridge, the 24-year-old was signed by the 18-time Serie A champions over the summer on a one-year loan deal.

However, after failing to make an impact in Milan, it is being reported that AC boss Gennaro Gattuso could be looking to cut his losses.

Bakayoko's poor form continues

Arriving for £40million from Monaco back in 2017, Bakayoko quickly struggled to live up to his price tag in West London.

Often criticized for large spells of last season, the arrival of Maurizio Sarri saw the one-cap France international deemed surplus to requirements.

Since arriving at Milan, the midfielder has now managed to record just 80 minuets of Serie A football.

Still waiting for his first start in Italy, Gattuso has insisted that Bakayoko must improve.

"Bakayoko has to learn how to get the ball,"

"We must work correctly. It will not be easy.

"One week is not enough to remove the defects of a player. I would have preferred to be managing older, more experienced club players."

While Milan have recently shown some signs of life, Rossoneri currently sit 10th in the table.

The former European powerhouse also find themselves 12 points adrift of Juventus.

Sadly for Bakayoko, his chances of getting any game time in West London look increasingly unlikely.

Along with Sarri bringing in former Napoli faviroute Jorginho over the summer, Chelsea also secured the services of World Cup finalist Mateo Kovacic on a year loan deal from Real Madrid.

Sarri's midfield options don't end there.

A return to Stamford Bridge would see the Frenchman in competition with N'Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater.

Chelsea currently sit second in the Premier League table level on points with both Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Blues are also the only team in England yet to be beaten in any competition.
