Man Utd striker Romelu Lukaku reveals interest in future Serie A move

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has opened the door on a possible switch to the Serie A, with Juventus his preferred destination.

Lukaku, 25, has plied his trade in the Premier League since joining Chelsea in 2011 from Belgian outfit Anderlecht, but he would welcome a move to Italian football.

His current club Man Utd are in a Champions League group with Juventus, and the forward has lauded Massimiliano Allegri's side, labelling them as "one of the two-three best teams in Europe."

"Juve have a great project in place and they just keep going. Every year they try to get stronger," Lukaku told La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia).

"Without doubt, Juve are one of the two-three best teams in Europe. They've got a great Coach on the bench and extraordinary players in every area of the team.

"Cristiano Ronaldo stands out, but watch out for the others too. Paulo Dybala is already impressive and getting stronger, while I love Douglas Costa. He's an exceptional signing and his career shows he always makes the difference.

"It's a tough group, but obviously Manchester United want to finish on top."

Lukaku's brother Jordan is currently on the books with Serie A side Lazio, having played there since 2016, and when asked whether he would be open to a future move to the Italian top-flight, the Man Utd marksman admitted he would relish the opportunity.

He added: "Why not? I hope it happens."

Lukaku in England

The 25-year-old joined Chelsea in 2011 as an extremely gifted teenage talent, but he failed to cement a starting berth under then-manager Jose Mourinho.

After successful loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Everton - where he scored a combined 33 goals in 71 appearances - he joined the latter on a permanent basis in 2014.

Lukaku would prove a revelation at Goodison Park, scoring 87 goals across 166 matches, as well as clinching the club's 'Player of the Season' award in 2017.

This prompted Manchester United to sign the Belgian for a reported £75m in the summer of 2017, and he has since scored 31 goals in 62 appearances for the Red Devils.
