Davis Keillor-Dunn fires Staggies into Challenge Cup quarter-finals

Davis Keillor-Dunn netted a brace as two-time winners Ross County eased into the Scottish Challenge Cup quarter-finals following a 3-1 win over Montrose at Dingwall.

Ross Stewart’s cool finish (20) put the Staggies ahead before Keillor-Dunn (41) doubled the advantage, chipping the keeper from close range.

Ladbrokes League One side Montrose, on a four-game winless streak, pulled a goal back when Craig Johnston (44) capitalised on indecision in the County defence.

But Keillor-Dunn restored the home side’s two-goal cushion six minutes into the second half with a fine strike into the bottom corner.

Alloa turned the form book upside down as they dumped Dunfermline out, winning 5-4 on penalties after the game finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Alan Trouten’s close-range finish put 1999 winners Alloa ahead after eight minutes but Louis Longridge (28) levelled with a superb strike from distance.

Longridge (47) then put the Pars in front from the penalty spot having hit the post moments prior to the scramble which resulted in the spot-kick.

Trouten (70) netted his second before Aidan Connolly missed the decisive penalty in the shoot-out.

Alloa are yet to win in the Championship this season, with all their victories coming in cup competitions, while Dunfermline were beaten for the first time in six matches.

Queen’s Park struck twice in the final 10 minutes as they beat St Mirren Under-21s 4-2 at St Mirren Park.

Samuel Jamieson (two) and Cameron Breadner (63) twice put the home side ahead only for Lewis Hawke (62) and Scott McLean to level (66).

Euan East put Queens in front for the first time in the 80th minute and McLean ensured their place in the last eight by converting a penalty two minutes later.

League One side East Fife knocked out twice-winners Queen of the South from the Championship courtesy of a 2-0 win at the Bayview Stadium.

Kevin Smith (34) and Anton Dowds (78) ensured a seventh successive win for the Fifers.

Motherwell Under-21s became the first Colts side to advance to the quarter-finals as they overcame Sligo 2-0 at home with a Patrick McClean own goal (12) followed by a cracking Christian Mbulu effort (71).

League of Ireland outfit Bohemians also progressed, beating Sutton of the Vanarama National League 4-3 on penalties after a goalless 90 minutes.
