Bad news for Man United: Matic may miss Chelsea

Ahead of a crucial run of games that could decide Jose Mourinho's future, Manchester United have been struck by a potential injury crisis.

It has been confirmed that Serbian international Nemanja Matic has withdrawn from international duty due to an unspecified injury.

Serbia are set to face Montenegro and Romania in the UEFA Nations League this week.

However, the 30-year-old has returned to Manchester early and is now a doubt for United's clash with Chelsea on October 20th.

Nemanja Matic has pulled out of international duty with Serbia and is a doubt for Manchester United to face former club Chelsea.

Matic's injury concern

The 30-year-old joined up with the Serbian squad immediately after Saturday's 3-2 win against Newcastle.

While United are yet to confirm the extent of the injury there are growing concerns over his availability for a crunch game against the Blues.

Matic has made eight appearances for United in all competitions this season.

The two-time Premier League winner will be a huge miss to Mourinho's midfield options.

Following a return to Stamford Bridge later in the month, United then face a tough test against Juventus in the Champions League.

Fellaini doesn't train with Belgium

With Matic potentially missing some key fixtures, Mourinho will be worried to see that another central midfielder was not training due to an injury issue.

Belgium international Marouane Fellaini did not take part in Belgium's training session on Tuesday morning.

A crucial part of Manchester United's plans, the former Everton man sat out due to an unnamed minor injury.

Marouane Fellaini (minor injury) isn't taking part in the Belgium training session today.

Shaw also a doubt

For Jose Mourinho, the injury setbacks just keep coming.

Left-back Luke Shaw has also returned to Carrington after withdrawing due to an injury.

Suffering a head injury on international duty last month, the 23-year-old will now miss the Three Lions' UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.
