Real Madrid 'declare interest' in Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey

Although Aaron Ramsey may have grabbed his first goal in Arsenal's 5-1 win over Fulham on Sunday, his future at the club still remains incredibly cloudy.

Arsenal had offered the Wales international a new four-year deal before withdrawing from negotiations and retracting the contract.

As it stands, Ramsey will leave the Emirates at the end of the season.

While Liverpool were seen to be favourites to secure Ramsey's signature, it seems one of Europe's most prestigious sides are also showing an interest.

Ramsey to Real Madrid?

Ian McGarry told the Transfer Window Podcast that Real Madrid have declared an interest in signing the 27-year-old.

McGarry also announced that the former La Liga champions were also interested in making a move when contract negotiations between both parties begun 18-months ago.

Since moving from Cardiff for £4.8million back in 2008, he has made over 200 appearances across all competitions.

During Ramsey's 11 year stay, he has lifted two FA Cup's, scoring the winner in both finals.

The Welshman has recorded 1 goal and 3 assists in eight Premier League matches so far.

He is also now Arsenal's longest-serving player.

Ramsey is currently on international duty with Wales.

Ryan Giggs' side face a friendly with Spain before their UEFA Nations League derby with Ireland.

Madrid's slow start

If Madrid are to convince Ramsey to head to the Spanish capital they will need to improve on their recent form.

Struggling to adjust to life under Julen Lopetegui, Los Blancos are now without a win in their last four matches in all competitions.

Coming off the back of a 1-0 loss to Alaves in La Liga, they also slumped to a defeat in their Champions League match against CSKA Moskva.

Without a goal in their last four, they appear to be finding it difficult without former talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.

Next up, Madrid face Levante and Viktoria Plzen before traveling to the Nou Camp for the seasons first El Clasico.
