Ayr United remained top of the Ladbrokes Championship thanks to a 2-0 win over Dundee United.
Ayr took the lead midway through the first half when Michael Moffat threaded the ball through and the prolific Lawrence Shankland slotted the ball under goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.
Matty Smith forced a sharp save out of Ross Doohan as the hosts sought an immediate response, and the same player threatened again with a header from Fraser Fyvie’s cross early in the second half.
Siegrist denied Shankland a second and substitute Declan McDaid should have put the game to bed from Fyvie’s poor back-pass, but opted for a pass which was cleared.
McDaid sent another effort against the crossbar before finally making it 2-0 with a far-post volley from 12 yards to send over 2,000 Honest Men fans home happy.
