Tykes slump frustrates Stendel

Barnsley head coach Daniel Stendel was very disappointed with his side’s performance after they had to settle for a point against rock-bottom Plymouth.
Alex Mowatt’s opener was cancelled out by a Ruben Lameiras goal in the latter stages of the first half as Argyle earned only their fourth point of the season.
Stendel said: “We started very good and we played with very good options and had chances.
“After the goal, we stopped our game and I don’t understand why. We were not defending and we gave Plymouth so many chances. The 30 minutes in the first half was very bad.”
Mamadou Thiam twice threatened before the hosts took an eighth-minute lead when Mowatt’s dipping effort from the edge of the area went in off the underside of the bar.
Plymouth then came into the game, though, with Stuart O’Keefe’s volley going just over and Freddie Ladapo thwarted by keeper Adam Davies after being put through.
Ladapo put two further efforts wide before Lameiras (40) equalised with a low 20-yard shot, and Plymouth’s Graham Carey shot wide soon after the restart.
Mowatt, Brad Potts and Kieffer Moore went close to a Barnsley winner but Stendel was not happy with the dip in his side’s performance.
“Plymouth played a good away game but it was more our fault,” he said. “It’s not too easy to switch the attitude. A little bit of concentration was missed.
“We tried in the second half and we had chances. We can win the game in the second half but I’m very disappointed.
“We need 100 per cent attitude in every game. The players need to learn that we need 100 per cent.
“It was very sad today for all the supporters. In all the games we’ve had very good support from our fans. I can understand they’ll go home frustrated.”
Plymouth manager Derek Adams did not attend the post-match press conference.
