Dundee finally off the mark after battling win at Hamilton

Neil McCann hopes his Dundee side have reached a turning point after finally picking up their first win of the season.
The Dark Blues boss had found himself clinging to his job as seven straight defeats sparked calls for him to be sacked.
But he will live to fight another day after his team put some points on the board with a deserved 2-0 triumph over Hamilton.
There is still work to be done for McCann and his men as they remain bottom of the table, a point behind St Mirren.
They certainly rode their luck against Accies, with Martin Canning’s side twice smashing the crossbar late on.
But having endured so much misery this term, the Dens boss insists his side remain united and he backed them to build on their long-awaited win.
“I hope this is a turning point and I believe we can carry on from here,” said McCann. “We have a tough game next weekend against Kilmarnock but I told them to enjoy the weekend because it has been a long time coming.
“It is a relief to get the three points and I am really pleased for the guys. I have been saying for a number of weeks that I had belief in them to get a result.
“I thought we were well worth the three points. We dominated the first half and we continued to do things well.
“The coming weeks will tell us how high the confidence will soar. It was a happy dressing room. There has been questions asked if the dressing room was together in these dark times but today showed the togetherness and it showed I have a bunch of boys who love being in each other’s company.”
The breakthrough came seven minutes before the break, with the goal initially credited to Karl Madianga as defender Andy Boyle got in among the home defence. But Accies – who now sit just three points above Dundee – created more than enough chances to take something from the match in the second half.
Fredrick Brustad somehow failed to convert from just three yards out while Elliott Parish’s crossbar was rattled twice late on as substitutes James Keatings and Rakish Bingham were both left frustrated.
In the end, Madianga made sure of the victory for Dundee with a late second goal but Canning was left to rue those missed opportunities.
“Unfortunately, we just couldn’t put the ball in the net.,” said the Accies manager.
“On another day, we’d probably score two or three goals with the chances we created.
“By all accounts Dundee haven’t been getting a break but they have today because I don’t know how we haven’t taken something from the game.”
