Billy McKay treble does for Dundee United

A Billy McKay hat-trick earned Ross County a rampant 5-1 victory over 10-man Dundee United in the Ladbrokes Championship clash at Tannadice.
The Staggies opened the scoring after 11 minutes thanks to McKay’s finish from close range, but that was cancelled out five minutes later by an unstoppable volley from Pavol Safranko.
McKay restored County’s lead on the half-hour, taking advantage of a poor clearance from United keeper Matej Rakovan to sweep home, and the visitors were further ahead shortly before the interval when Sean Kelly’s free-kick evaded everyone to nestle in the net.
County further stamped their authority with two goals in as many minutes after the restart. Josh Mullen stabbed home McKay’s assist after 48 minutes before returning the favour to allow the Northern Ireland striker to complete his hat-trick from two yards out.
United’s miserable afternoon was completed when Stewart Murdoch was sent off on the hour for his challenge on Jamie Lindsay, just three minutes after coming off the bench.
