Halifax held at home by AFC Fylde as winless run goes on

Halifax’s winless run in the National League extended to six matches as they were held to a goalless draw at home to AFC Fylde.
Fylde were the closer of the two sides to scoring in the first half. They were denied by the crossbar after 15 minutes when Jordan Tunnicliffe’s header bounced down off the underside of the bar, but the referee didn’t think it had crossed the line.
Danny Phillikirk and Danny Rowe also went close for the Coasters either side of the half hour mark, but neither forward could direct their strike on target.
Jonathan Edwards had perhaps the best chance for Halifax, but his one-on-one effort was well saved by Jay Lynch.
There were few chances in the second period as Halifax failed to break down the tightest defence in the National League.
But Fylde came within inches of the winner in added time as Ashley Hemmings flicked an effort off the crossbar.
