Belgium boss Roberto Martinez believes the 27-year-old can become one of the world's best player's this season following his performances for club and country.

"I've seen Eden at a sensational level in the World Cup and he's carried that on with Chelsea this season," Martinez said.

"Eden has been involved in 26 goals in his last 26 games for the national team.

"That is world-class level.

"All we want is for him to carry on enjoying that football because with the talent he has you want to see that.

"He has also brought some fantastic leadership to the national team."

Chelsea will travel to Anfield to play Liverpool in Carabao Cup on Wednesday before the two team meet again at Stamford Bridge in the Premier league on Saturday.

Martinez believes Hazard has shown he can perform at a high level on a regular basis and the player's consistency will see him elevated to the very top sooner rather than later.

"Everyone has their own view. When you see some attacking players they do not have that consistency.

"But Eden, and that's after working with him for more than two years now, has been very consistent.

"I'm not the best to judge a player compared to others that I'm not working with but at the national team with his level of contribution that has been so consistent.

"That's even more the case when you consider he is a player who is always highlighted by the opposition to stop his threat in games.

Hazard might have missed out on reaching the top three for the Best FIFA Men's Player award 2018, after previously making the top ten shortlist, but the winger has spoken of his determination to make the most of the upcoming double-header against Liverpool.

"Next weekend we play Liverpool at home. I hope we can keep this momentum and keep winning games," Hazard said.

"Everyone can score goals and create chances, so that's why we have been good.

"We need to keep playing like this and we have confidence at the moment to do so.

"Liverpool is the kind of game where you want to shine, so we will I hope."
