Turgott leaves it late for Maidstone

A stoppage-time penalty from Blair Turgott saw Maidstone steal a 1-0 victory at fellow strugglers Braintree in the Vanarama National League.
After a scrappy start, Braintree were the first to threaten with a Ricky Gabriel header from 10 yards which was gathered by visiting keeper Lee Worgan.
Maidstone, under the watchful eye of new manager Harry Wheeler, responded five minutes later with an effort from Turgott but Ben Killip kept the hosts level with a diving save.
Braintree pushed again before the interval and Billy Crook tried his luck from 25 yards but failed to keep his shot down.
Turgott was denied again by Killip shortly after the restart, and Worgan was also called into action to keep out a stinging drive from Mohamed Bettamer.
A goalless draw seemed on the cards but late drama saw Maidstone snatch the points when Turgott took a tumble in the area before dispatching the winner from the spot.
