Kee and McConville on target as Accrington beat AFC Wimbledon

Goals from Billy Kee and Sean McConville secured Accrington’s first home win of the season as they beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1.
Stanley started strongly, with Joe McDonnell denying winger Jordan Clark in the first minute.
Their opening goal came after six minutes when Kee fired the ball into the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the area for his fourth of the season.
Stanley were bossing the half with Kee, McConville and Sam Finley all coming close.
Wimbledon must have had an ear-bashing from boss Neal Ardley at half-time and they immediately threatened after the break with Liam Trotter’s effort from six yards out blocked – but it was Stanley who struck next on the hour.
Winger McConville’s strike from the edge of the area took a big deflection into the top corner, leaving McDonnell rooted to the spot.
Wimbledon upped their game and a solo effort from substitute Scott Wagstaff got them back in it on 64 minutes – he cut inside and blasted past Connor Ripley.
And they could have levelled a minute later with Jake Jervis forcing Ripley into a strong save and Mark Hughes headed Joe Pigott’s effort off the line in injury time as Stanley held on for three points.
