Mullin pushing for start against Newport

Tranmere forward Paul Mullin is hoping his goal from the bench in last weekend’s victory over Carlisle will be enough to earn him a start against Newport.
Mullin is yet to start a game for Rovers since joining from Swindon in the summer but boss Micky Mellon may choose to juggle his forward options.
Tranmere will be without Ritchie Sutton (leg) and Evan Gumbs (knee), but could hand a debut to new signing Ryan Williams as they host the high-flying Exiles.
The former Brentford midfielder joined Rovers last week on a short-term deal following a successful trial period, having previously had spells in Canada and Brazil.
Newport will be without Robbie Wilmott for the trip to Merseyside as the winger starts his three-match suspension.
Wilmott saw red for a wild challenge in the closing stages of last week’s shock 6-0 defeat to Yeovil last week and was fined by his manager Michael Flynn for the dismissal.
Flynn has insisted he won’t make wholesale changes to react to that defeat, preferring to trust the bulk of the players who started that home loss to respond.
But captain Andrew Crofts will miss the Tranmere clash after suffering a setback in his return to full fitness by picking up swelling on his Achilles.
