The Real Madrid and Spain captain said his family, including young children, were targeted with death threats after Mohamed Salah's injury

Speaking following his side's Wembley win, the Spain captain said: "One tries to evade [the boos]. In the end you feel it, but I stay out of everything. It doesn't affect my game.

"I would have liked another reception because people only remember the action of the final, and nobody remembers the death threats that my family and my children received.

"It is a very sensitive issue that people maybe take as a joke and [that's why they] whistle in a great stadium like this. My conscience is very clear. I already explained and I do not have to give more explanations."

Ramos has continually pleaded his innocence after the incident with Liverpool's Salah in Kiev, which saw the Egyptain star forced off 30 minutes into the final with a shoulder injury.

Ramos insists his conscience is clear and he did not deliberately hurt Salah as Real Madrid went on to win their third Champions League title in as many seasons

And the 32-year-old said his conscience is clear after his first game in England since May's final as Spain came from behind to win after Marcus Rashford gave the Three Lions an early lead.

He said: "You never expect a reception that is not good because, as I said the other day, if these [English] fans have something good, it is that they have always been with the great players. It has not been like that, but I am very calm, with my conscience very clear in that aspect.

"As I said before, I have never tried to hurt a colleague. There are people who may have misunderstood it, but these are football things. It will not change anything in my game or in me."

Salah has never directly blamed the Real Madrid man, so often the pantomime villain, but did not rule out the centre-back deliberately injuring him and laughed off claims he could have taken a painkilling injection to carry on playing.

He said: "I do not know. Maybe. It is funny.

"My comment is that it's always okay when the one who made you cry first, then makes you laugh."

The injury meant Salah did not play a full part in Egypt's poor World Cup campaign and Ramos added fuel to the fire when he tapped the forward's shoulder after picking up his Uefa Defender of the Year award last month.

As well as discussing the death threats to his family, Ramos also lauded the performance of goalkeeper David De Gea at Wembley.

The Manchester United stopper has struggled for form in recent months but made a number of good saves to preserve the win.

But De Gea, 27, was fortuitous to get away with a dropped catch in injury time, as Danny Welbeck was adjudged to have fouled before slotting home what he thought was an equaliser.

Ramos added: "He is a great goalkeeper. We have always said it. The big games are those that mark the great players. After a World Cup with many doubts, he deserved [a performance such as this].

"He has a great game, he has made some interventions that have marked the result of the game. Hopefully it is also a beginning, and that will help him to gain confidence because he is a key player for us."
