Maidenhead climb clear of relegation zone with victory at Braintree

Maidenhead climbed clear of the National League’s relegation zone with a vital 2-0 victory at fellow strugglers Braintree.
The 23rd-placed hosts remain winless from their opening seven fixtures, in which they have secured only two draws, while Maidenhead’s second win gives them a total of seven points and moves them up to 18th.
Maidenhead’s win was essentially sealed by half-time, through goals from Adrian Clifton and Ayo Obileye.
Clifton’s came in the 27th minute, when he sent a half-volley from Herson Alves’ knockdown into the back of the the net.
On the stroke of half-time Remy Clerima crossed towards Obileye, whose powerful header doubled the visitors’ advantage.
