Ismail scores before seeing red as Walsall edge out Rochdale

Walsall picked up their third successive victory with a 2-1 win away to Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena.
The hosts absolutely dominated possession throughout the opening 45 minutes but found themselves one down at the break.
The goal arrived in the 32nd minute and was a moment to forget for Dale’s debutant goalkeeper Magnus Norman. His wayward pass was seized upon by Josh Ginnelly whose side-footed effort took a heavy deflection off MJ Williams and spun into the bottom corner of the net.
Williams blazed a great chance over the crossbar and the home side paid for that miss in the 78th minute when substitute Zeli Ismail showed great composure to avoid a couple of challenges and fire past Norman.
Keith Hill’s side pulled one back a minute later when Aaron Wilbraham’s header struck the post and Callum Camps tapped home from close range.
Camps was close to an equaliser only to be denied by Liam Roberts while Walsall finished the game with ten men after Ismail was sent off for a second bookable offence.
