Morton ended Ross County’s perfect start to the Ladbrokes Championship season with a 2-1 victory at Cappielow Park.
County had won their opening two league games but the defeat in Greenock saw the Staggies slip from top spot.
The visitors twice came close to opening the scoring in the first half hour, with Ross Draper clipping the bar with a diving header and Callum Morris nodding wide.
County did take the lead in the 58th minute when Don Cowie latched onto Iain Vigurs’ pass and prodded home.
Morton equalised almost immediately courtesy of Michael Tidser’s fine 30-yard strike, taking the midfielder’s tally for the season to five.
The home side then sealed the win, and maintained their unbeaten start to the season in the process, when Bob McHugh lashed home a left-footed effort 13 minutes from time.
