Derby are likely to be without George Evans against Preston after he limped off in the win over Ipswich.
The midfielder, who was making his debut, came off with a knee injury and was replaced by Joe Ledley, who is likely to start in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.
Rams captain Curtis Davies (hamstring), Scott Malone (hamstring) and winger Harry Wilson (groin) are all battling injury issues.
Jayden Bogle is likely to keep Andre Wisdom out of the team, with the 18-year-old defender having started the last three games.
Preston striker Paul Gallagher sits out the second of three matches after his retrospective suspension.
The striker was handed a ban by the Football Association following his elbow on Joe Allen against Stoke earlier this month.
Calum Woods and Sean Maguire (both hamstring) and Billy Bodin (knee) will also miss the Lilywhites’ trip to Pride Park.
Lukas Nmecha and Louis Moult may continue to lead the lead after the pair started in the 2-0 defeat at Norwich on Wednesday.
