Kieffer Moore’s hat-trick helped Barnsley to a third win from their opening four League One games in a comfortable 4-0 win against Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena.
Moore and Tom Bradshaw saw efforts hit the woodwork in a dominant opening from the Tykes before they finally edged ahead in the 35th minute, with Moore crossing for Brad Potts to head beyond Dale stopper Josh Lillis.
Their lead was doubled in the 42nd minute, Moore this time getting on the end of a brilliant centre from Dani Pinillos and powering a header wide of Lillis.
Dale substitute Joe Rafferty was close to pulling one back just after the interval but having seen Adam Davies parry his shot, the Tykes raced up-field through Mamadou Thiam and netted a third when Moore cut inside Ryan Delaney and slammed home his second goal of the night after 48 minutes.
And Moore completed his hat-trick with a brilliant individual goal in the 68th minute, turning sharply on the edge of the box and weaving his way towards goal before slipping in a precise finish.
