CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN could reportedly determine whether Real Madrid let Luka Modric leave.

Modric has been touted with a move to Inter Milan and the 32-year-old World Cup finalist is ready to spread his wings and pit himself against the best in Serie A.

Although he was included in the match day squad for Real Madrid's UEFA Super Cup clash against Atletico Madrid, Modric's future at the Bernabeu looks increasingly precarious.

While Modric has two years left to run on his present deal, the lure of Italy appears to be too good to resist.

As far as Eriksen is concerned, Express Sport understands Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to make a £100million bid before the Spanish transfer window closes on August 31.

However, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Spurs have placed a whopping £178m price-tag on the Danish midfielder's head which could scupper Real's plans.

Daniel Levy is renowned for being a tough negotiator, with Gareth Bale being a prime example when he sealed a switch to Real for a then world-record fee of £85million in 2013.

Also, with the Premier League transfer window shut, Mauricio Pochettino would object to Eriksen's departure as he would be unable to bring in a replacement.

Likewise, Real would not want to let Modric leave if they couldn't sign someone suitable.

Inter boss Luciano Spalletti refused to discuss the club's interest in Modric when pressed about the matter.

He said: "You will have to ask the sporting director [Piero Ausilio] about that.

"I will not say anything more with regards to the transfer market.

"I'm already very happy with what I have in my squad. These players are the ones I would want to have.

"I'm in the changing room with people I would have chosen even if I was playing on a computer game."

Real have already publicly maintained that Modric would cost any club £669m because of his release clause.
