Leyton Orient picked up their first win of the new Vanarama National League season with a 2-1 win at Maidstone to maintain an unbeaten start.
The O’s, who had drawn their opening three matches, went ahead after just 10 minutes through a well-taken effort from Josh Koroma.
Maidstone, beaten 3-0 at Halifax on Saturday, came close to an equaliser on 18 minutes when Stuart Lewis’ shot was pushed over the crossbar by goalkeeper Dean Brill.
The visitors doubled their lead on 35 minutes after Marvin Ekpiteta headed in from James Dayton’s cross, but Maidstone set up a tense final 10 minutes through a header by substitute Shamir Mullings.
Koroma almost made it 3-1 when he hit the post and then Brill produced another fine reaction save from Blair Turgott in stoppage-time to make sure of a hard-earned victory.
