Nigel Clough taking Shrewsbury clash seriously

Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough has pledged to play his strongest available side as the Brewers start their Carabao Cup campaign with a trip to Shrewsbury.
Clough, who is targeting another good run in the competition after last season’s third-round defeat against Manchester United, confirmed David Templeton is set to start while Elliot Hodge also comes into the frame after joining the club last week.
Damien McCrory and Scott Fraser are doubts after both picked up injuries in Saturday’s 3-1 loss at Gillingham, a game Jamie Allen missed with a back problem.
New signing Lee Angol may make his Shrewsbury debut following his deadline day move from Mansfield.
Angol was left out of the squad for Saturday’s defeat to Charlton, with Salop boss John Askey believing the forward needs time to get up to speed.
Captain Mat Sadler could return for the cup tie after being left out of the weekend game in favour of new signing Luke Waterfall, who also took the captain’s armband.
