Dan Gardner’s late leveller earns a point for Oldham

Oldham came from behind to earn a 1-1 Sky Bet League Two draw at Forest Green.
Reuben Reid had given the home side a 22nd-minute lead but Latics skipper Dan Gardner levelled from the penalty spot late in the game.
It was the visitors who started the better, having the pick of the early chances when Gardner thumped a 20-yard free-kick over the bar.
But it was Forest Green who took the lead when a half clearance from Oldham defender Sam Graham reached Lloyd James and the Rovers midfielder played in Reid who placed his shot into the bottom right-hand corner of Daniel Iversen’s goal.
The visiting shotstopper, on loan from Premier League side Leicester, pulled off a number of excellent saves in the second half, denying Reece Brown and Carl Winchester in quick succession.
And after weathering the storm, Oldham levelled from the spot after 78 minutes when Gardner drilled his penalty past keeper Robert Sanchez who had fouled Jose Baxter to hand the Latics their chance.
Christian Doidge thought he had snatched a Forest Green winner in the final minute only for the goal to be ruled out for a foul on the keeper.
