Barnsley ease to impressive victory at Bradford

Relegated Barnsley continued their 100 per cent start to the season with an impressive 2-0 win at Yorkshire rivals Bradford.
The visitors, who thrashed Oxford 4-0 at home on the opening day of the season, went in front in the sixth minute through Tom Bradshaw after a spell of sustained pressure.
Striker Kieffer Moore had shots blocked by defender Anthony O’Connor and goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell, but the Bradford defence failed to clear the danger completely and, when Dimitri Cavare returned the ball in from the right, Bradshaw scored with a flying header.
Bradford, who included nine summer signings in their starting line-up, almost equalised two minutes later when Hope Akpan crossed from the right and Sean Scannell just failed to connect with the goal at his mercy.
They continued to probe the visitors’ defence both before and after half-time but struggled to create clear-cut chances and Barnsley put the result beyond doubt with their second goal in the 69th minute.
It was created by substitute George Moncur with a run down the left before he crossed for fellow substitute Victor Adeboyejo to tap into an empty net.
Barnsley dominated the rest of the game and came close to adding a third when O’Donnell made a superb reflex save to keep out Bradshaw’s close-range header.
