Salford slip up at Gateshead after Luke Armstrong double

Luke Armstrong struck twice as Gateshead condemned Salford to their first Vanarama National League defeat with a 2-1 victory at the International Stadium.
Former Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney opened his City account after just 11 minutes, heading in Rory Gaffney’s cross at the back post.
The home side though stormed back with a penalty at the other end. Cameron Salkeld was fouled in the box and Armstrong shot past Chris Neal.
Armstrong poked the Heed in front midway through the second half when he got on the end of a swift breakaway.
Rooney and Lois Maynard both hit the post for unlucky Salford.
