Solihull Moors claim dramatic comeback win
Posted Sunday, August 05, 2018 by PA
Adi Yussuf and Dan Sweeney struck in the final 10 minutes as Solihull Moors came from behind to open their National League campaign with a 2-1 win at Eastleigh.
Paul McCallum’s 77th-minute penalty looked to be the decisive moment but Solihull hit back almost immediately and left their hosts stunned with two quickfire goals to turn the match on its head.
It was Eastleigh who came firing out of the traps, with Josh Hare twice denied by goalkeeper Ryan Boot while a third effort later on in the first half was tipped on to the post.
Eastleigh’s persistence looked to have paid off when McCallum sent Boot the wrong way after Oscar Gobern was fouled in the area but Yussuf equalised quickly after the ball had deflected into his path.
And three minutes later, six after falling behind, Solihull went ahead when Sweeney latched on to Jamey Osborne’s through ball, rounded Eastleigh goalkeeper Graham Stack and slotted home.
