Leroy Sané: Chelsea are Man City's biggest threat to the Premier League title

Manchester City winger Leroy Sane believes that Chelsea are the biggest threat to his side's Premier League title defence.

Pep Guardiola's team stormed their way through the pack to win the title last season, finishing the season on 100 points, a Premier League record.

They also finished 19 points above second-place Manchester United whilst also scoring the most goals in a single season (106).

However, Sane – who was named PFA Young Player of the Year – believes that the biggest challenge for the side to retain the title next season comes from Chelsea.

The Blues have replaced former title winner Antonio Conte with ex-Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri in an effort to overcome last season's disappointing campaign – where Chelsea finished fifth, outside of the Champions League places – and return as title challengers.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Sane said: "I think Chelsea because they have brought a really good coach.

"If you have seen how Napoli played last season, it was really, really attractive and really good. We really suffered against them.

"They will need some time to get really used to his tactics. They could be really tough.

"Also Liverpool too – they bought really good players. They could be really strong next season."

Sarri has already returned to the Serie A club as he looks to assemble his new side in west London.

Italian international and creative midfielder Jorginho has joined up with Sarri in England after the two clubs agreed on a deal rumoured to be close to £50 million, rising to £57 million.

Sane was one of Manchester City's best players last season, scoring 10 goals and recording 15 assists in the Premier League. But his efforts were not enough to earn him a spot in Germany's squad for the World Cup, though Die Mannschaft would bow out at the group stages.
